Return to Your Senses
An audio feature about this week's Torah portion including what the Hebrew language reveals about the spiritual power of the 5 senses, and a simple mindfulness practice for this season of reflection.
Allowing your five senses to connect you with the wider world can be a spiritual exercise that helps you feel fully alive and at one with all of creation.
A note on this week’s Bonus Audio Feature
I belong to a meditation circle at my synagogue. Each week we take turns offering a 10-minute reflection on the week’s Torah portion and leading the group into a 25-minute meditation. From time to time, I share what I shared with that small group with this larger one. That’s what this week’s audio feature is all about.
If that doesn’t sound like it’s your thing, feel free to skip this one — and I’ll be back next week with more on Sarah.
But if you’re even a little bit curious, have a listen. As with all of my posts in this series, you’ll find that I take an inclusive, off-beat, and mindful approach to the biblical text.
Having the eyes to see and the ears to hear
Although I’m usually no fan of Deuteronomy (because of its often scolding tone and harsh punishments, not to mention the assault on the Divine Feminine) I found spiritual guidance in this week’s Torah portion.
In today’s Bonus Track Audio, you will hear:
What the Hebrew language can teach us about the spiritual power of the five senses.
What my visit to the Grand Canyon as a 20-year-old in love has do with any of this.
Simple daily practices you can use to enter this season with a full heart, no matter what your spiritual faith.
